Brussels, November 12, 2024 — The Executive Leadership Workshop kicked off today at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Brussels City, bringing together about 40 delegates from the Supreme Court of Nigeria Management Officials and Professionals to explore core leadership strategies. Day one of the five-day event, designed to elevate executive leadership capabilities, focused on foundational aspects of leadership and effective team management.
The morning session opened with an inspiring keynote by Ambassador Urban Rusnak, leading participants through Module 1: Appreciating Executive Leadership Challenges. Ambassador Rusnak highlighted critical distinctions between leadership and management, encouraging attendees to reflect on their executive leadership style. Participants engaged deeply with topics such as trust-building using the four-factor model and strategies for managing cross-functional teams, especially within international contexts.
Module 2: Strategic Elements of Executive Leadership continued after a brief break with Ambassador Rusnak, Dr Monica Emmanuel and Dr Haroun Aliyu Ibrahim. The session emphasized long-term strategic thinking, with leaders reflecting on aligning purpose, vision, and values. Attendees were guided in creating personal vision statements and exploring methods to navigate complex organizational politics.
After lunch, the Afternoon Session shifted focus to Team Management and Communication. Mrs. Charlane Edwards, leading Module 3: Understanding and Managing Others in Your Team, engaged participants in an interactive discussion on the unique challenges of managing managers, setting performance targets, and effective mentoring techniques. In Module 4: Leadership Communication, Mrs. Kate Davies highlighted the importance of adapting communication styles to diverse audiences, running productive boardroom meetings, and bridging organizational levels through clear messaging.
The day concluded with a Q&A session and networking, allowing participants to exchange insights and connect with peers. With day two set to cover advanced communication and decision-making, attendees left with renewed enthusiasm for strengthening their executive leadership journeys.
