AfroFem Unity Club Workshop on “Empowering Every Woman, Elevating Every Community”

The event aimed to empower women with leadership skills, foster community, and discuss initiatives for global development. The evening featured keynote speeches, interactive workshops, and engaging discussions, followed by a buffet/ dinner offering a variety of dishes and a networking session.
The event commenced with a warm welcome and registration, followed by opening remarks from Dr. Monica Emmanuel, AGEFADD’s Africa Project Manager and the Club President, who outlined the club’s vision and mission. Mrs. Charlane Edwards, MD of AGEFADD, delivered an inspiring keynote speech on “Empowering Women in Global Development,” emphasising women’s crucial roles in global development.
The highlight was the interactive workshop on “Building Leadership Skills for Social Impact,” facilitated by Prof. C. Oteh, Mrs. E. Onyegbule, and Dr. V. Masumbuko. Participants discussed engaging in group projects and community development activities designed to enhance leadership skills and personal and community development. A networking break allowed members to mingle and share ideas, followed by a sit-down dinner featuring various cuisines, fostering community and shared experiences.
Dr. Monica Emmanuel presented ongoing and upcoming AfroFem Unity Club projects, encouraging member participation and new initiatives. The evening concluded with a preview of a periodic Gala/Award Night, highlighting its objectives and significance, and an interactive feedback session led by Mrs. Charlane Edwards, MD of AGEFADD, who underscored key takeaways and gathered suggestions for future events.
The meeting adjourned, reminding members to mark their calendars for the first Gala/Award Night. The dinner will continue to be a staple of each meeting, promoting fellowship and deeper connections among members. The club emphasised the importance of member participation in both quarterly meetings and broader activities within AGEFADD.
